Many people like to learn enough English to make their experience in Australia so much better. Want to learn how to shop for bargains, find the cheapest places to stay, the best beaches and the cheapest shops? You need some English!

International Students
International education at Coffs Harbour Education Campus (CHEC) is not just about study — it’s about the experience of a lifetime!    CHEC offers international students the chance to study on a modern dynamic campus with all the facilities of a major city campus, set in a safe regional environment.

On the one campus, CHEC offers international students the opportunity to attend the senior high school (CHEC Senior College),TAFE (TAFE NSW North Coast Institute), a university (Southern Cross University) and even study English at the CHEC English Language Centre.   Students can articulate from any of these providers into another without having to move to another campus or city.

Offering full support to all international students, our highly trained International Student Advisors are culturally sensitive and very aware of the needs of international students.  Parents can send their sons and daughters to CHEC knowing they will be fully supported in every aspect of their life.  In addition, international students are offered the opportunity to integrate into the local community, sharing the benefits of a relaxed Australian lifestyle.

All teaching staff at CHEC are professionally trained and experienced.  Each educational sector at the campus offers international students full tutorial facilities and academic support. In addition, the campus library and Student Learning Centre offer all students the resources and materials needed to complement their face to face studies.

Accommodation services are offered for international students including on-site residential accommodation for university and vocational college students or flat or share accommodation in the city or surrounding towns.  Homestay accommodation is provided for students at Senior High School or the English Language Centre.

International students also have access to special recreational and social programs organised by trained Activity Officers and are encouraged to take part in local sporting teams (soccer, basketball, hockey, tennis etc), interest clubs (chess, bridge, Toastmasters, choral and musical groups), as well as local nature and conservation groups, where the students are made very welcome.

Living costs in Coffs Harbour are much cheaper than those of the major cities and students can enjoy cheap local seafood, fresh local dairy foods, country fresh meats and locally grown vegetables.  There are a number of ethnic restaurants and students can also purchase many of their own cultural foods.  As there are no heavy industries in this area, there is no air pollution and the local tap water is drinkable, being sourced from the local rivers, fed from the mountains nearby.  Entertainment is provided by local live theatre and musical groups, night clubs and coffee shops. With pristine beaches and the nearby rainforests, students have an ideal environment in which to live and study.

There are more than thirty different ethnic groups residing in the Coffs Harbour City area and international students are invited to take part in the activities of our local communities, especially the various multicultural events and festivities held each year.   So choose to study in Coffs Harbour at CHEC – offering great education in a great place!
