The Bar is a facility to be enjoyed by both staff and students. In order to make the best use of this facility, the following regulations apply.
The licensed area is the area enclosed within the bar area of F Block cafeteria, but does not extend to the cafeteria. No drinks can be taken from, or passed to, other people from the licensed area into the cafeteria or onto any balcony area. Persons breaking this condition of the licence will be barred from the premises for three months, reported to the appropriate Sector Director and may be fined by the police. Liquor shall be sold for consumption on the premises only and no packaged liquor is to be sold for take away. The licensed area is a “restricted area” under the liquor act which means that no person under the age of 18 is allowed to enter, under any circumstances, at any time during the day or evening. Serious penalties can be imposed on both under age drinkers and the licensee if this part of the Liquor Act is breached, jeopardising the Campus liquor licence and the enjoyment of staff and students. It is Campus policy that you will be asked to present two types of proof of age (RTA Proof of Age Card, Drivers Licence and Passport are the only forms of identification acceptable). Anyone requested for proof of age will be required to sign a proof of age register which will record all your identification details and will be made available to the police on request. You may still be refused service if suspected of being under age. If you are under 18 and found in the bar, not only may you be heavily fined under the liquor act, you will be subject to the disciplinary procedures of your educational sector which may affect your academic record. All aspects of the responsible service of alcohol regulation will be strictly observed. The Campus liquor licence makes particular reference to the fact that the Licensee cannot use promotions, discounting or allow the misuse or abuse of liquor such as binge drinking and excessive consumption. The licensee and bar staff are obliged under the Liquor Act to refuse service of alcohol to intoxicated or unruly persons. The licensee will promote safe driving. A free telephone is available at the bar which has a direct link to the Coffs Harbour Taxi Network. Pick up the receiver in the bar and wait for the Taxi Company to answer. It is part of the Campus’ Liquor Licence that no advertising for functions to be held in the bar may occur in any place off the Campus. You are obliged under the Liquor Act and the CHEC Harm Minimisation House Policy to leave the premises quietly at all times. Steve Laidley is the Licensee and has the ultimate authority as to what is and is not permitted in the bar. |
